Kitchen Brightening

Don't know what to do with your dark cabinets?  Contact LaVonne from LaVintage Decor and get a paint transformation and FREE design consultation.  This kitchen got a makeover which started with cabinets and snowballed into new wall color, countertops and appliances.

A picture is worth a thousand words.  Here dark cabinets took a bath in Dixie Belle's Buttercream paint with Grunge Glaze distressing.  They were finished with a Satin Clear Coat. The cabinet pulls, which the homeowner was going to replace, got a new lease on life with Rustoleum's Oil Rubbed Bronze spray paint.  Already into the makeover, the homeowners decided they wanted new wall color, but not sure which color direction to turn.  After offering a few suggestions, this turquoise blue was chosen.  It is paint with primer, so short work was made of a big job. One coat covered the previously sage green walls.  The soffit was painted in the same treatment as the cabinets to give the illusion of cabinets that reach to the ceiling and enlarge the feeling of the room.  The counter tops and appliances were on the homeowner's wishlist, and the makeover inspired the changes take place sooner.

The homeowner had lovely graphic wall art of a fork and spoon.  She had considered replacing it, but it took on new life, with the bold new wall color.  The black table and chairs also pop off the color.

Taking a cue from the existing Fork and Spoon graphic art, a solution was needed to cover an old wall phone jack.  Here, a canvas was covered in wallpaper, then a vintage tarnished utensils were adhered.

Details...details.  An existing paper towel holder that was wood stained and had a Pfaltzgraff design on it got a makeover as well.  Painted to match the cabinets, the detail was inspired by the kitchen art.  A gold filigree was adhered to a black background and a crystal was applied.  A little bling, as in the wall art.

There you have it.  Another kitchen with a fresh outlook.
